Massive Fire at Miri Chicken Farm: 150,000 Chickens Burned.
A devastating fire broke out at a chicken farm in Sungai Rait, Miri, late at night, destroying the entire facility and leaving 150,000 chickens charred. The fire, which engulfed the 60×400 square-foot wooden structure, spread rapidly and completely consumed the farm.
The Miri and Lopeng Fire and Rescue Departments dispatched 15 firefighters, two fire engines, an emergency medical vehicle, and a van to the scene immediately after receiving the report. The blaze was brought under control within 35 minutes.
Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and the total loss has yet to be determined. With the incident occurring close to the Chinese New Year, it is feared that chicken prices may rise due to this loss.
